The idea for a children’s coloring book came while I was sitting in the urgent care waiting room. I looked over and saw dozens of (out of date) magazines, but only one book for children: a well-loved coloring book that was already completely colored in. It made me think how something as simple as a fresh coloring book (not one to share, one to have all to yourself) could bring comfort to kids navigating medical challenges, especially when so much can feel out of their control. As a pediatric palliative care advocate, I wanted something to offer joy, creativity, and a touch of comfort in any setting.
I wanted to design something both educational and entertaining - something that reminds kids that art isn’t about perfection, it’s about expression. Every page was designed to showcase that art comes in many forms and it is all around us! Art is for Everybody from A-Z is my love letter to creativity, childhood, and the belief that every child deserves access to self-expression - no matter their circumstances.
